Two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the killing of a man and a separate stabbing in Lindi, Kibra, The Star, Kenya reports. The pair were picked up in the Kingstone area of Lindi after an operation by detectives working on both cases, which were reported on October 23, 2026.
According to The Star, Kenya, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the two are being processed in custody ahead of arraignment. The outlet did not name the suspects or say when they are expected in court.
Why it matters
Both attacks happened on the same morning and in the same neighbourhood, and each victim was on his way to work when he was set upon. That timing has made the two cases a single line of inquiry for detectives, and the arrests suggest investigators are treating them as connected enough to pursue together. For residents of Kibra, an area where robbery and violent assault are recurring concerns, the speed of the operation is likely to be read as a test of how seriously such cases are handled.
How the two attacks unfolded
The first incident left 49-year-old Jacob Odhiambo Alube dead. The Star, Kenya reports that he was stabbed during a robbery in which his belongings, including his mobile phone, were taken. Police said the attackers struck him in the chest and left thigh after he tried to fight back, then fled. Officers who arrived at the scene found his body in a pool of blood. Crime Scene Investigation personnel worked the scene before the body was taken to Nairobi Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination is pending.
In the second incident, reported the same morning, 58-year-old Juma Jared was stabbed several times by two assailants. The Star, Kenya reports that he was wounded on the upper left arm, the left side of his chest and the lower left back. Bystanders took him to Mbagathi Hospital, and he was later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further care. He is described as being in fair and stable condition. Nothing was taken from him in the attack.
What the arrests mean for the inquiry
The operation that produced the arrests followed investigations into both incidents, according to The Star, Kenya. The outlet describes the two as suspects rather than persons of interest, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has said only that they remain in custody while processing continues. No charges have been announced and no further details about the evidence against them have been made public.
The case now moves to the courts, where the two are expected to be produced for arraignment.
