Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has intervened to resolve a rift between Senator Barau Jibrin and a Kano House of Representatives member, Bichi, according to The Guardian Nigeria News. The governor's move was reported on Thursday as an effort to prevent a major split within the state's All Progressives Congress (APC).

TheCable reports that Yusuf reconciled the two figures and asked their supporters to stop trading insults. Punch Newspapers also reported the reconciliation, noting it comes ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The dispute had threatened to widen divisions within the APC in Kano, a state where the party's internal cohesion matters for upcoming electoral contests. By stepping in, the governor sought to close the gap between the senator and the lawmaker before it could harden into a lasting factional break.

The reconciliation was covered by multiple Nigerian outlets, including The Guardian Nigeria News, TheCable and Punch Newspapers, all of which framed it as a pre-2027 move to keep the party's house in order.

Separately, Vanguard News reported that the APC has warned its members against anti-party activities, a signal that the party is watching internal conduct closely as the next election cycle approaches.

What to watch next is whether the truce between Barau and Bichi holds, and whether the APC's warning to members translates into action against anyone who breaks ranks in Kano and beyond.
