Anthony Joshua defeated Kristian Prenga by second-round knockout in a comeback bout in Saudi Arabia, according to Sky News. The Guardian reports that the fight left Joshua facing urgent questions, while Tyson Fury’s recent performance was described as uninspiring.

The Guardian notes that Joshua’s win was “chaotic,” as the BBC also characterized the bout. Joshua dedicated the victory to Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, per BBC. Promoter Eddie Hearn told Bad Left Hook that Joshua “can fight like that and beat Tyson Fury,” referring to the scare Joshua experienced during the Prenga fight.

The fight was Joshua’s return to the ring after a previous loss. The Guardian’s analysis suggests that while Joshua won, the manner of the victory raises doubts about his readiness for a potential blockbuster matchup with Fury. Fury, meanwhile, has also been criticized for a lackluster performance in his own recent bout.

The heavyweight division now looks toward a possible Joshua-Fury showdown, with Hearn expressing confidence in Joshua’s ability to prevail despite the Prenga scare.
