Talks between Jharkhand authorities and students protesting alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) recruitment exams ended without a breakthrough on Saturday. According to The New Indian Express, the second round of negotiations failed to produce an agreement, and the protest movement will continue.

The talks were held as part of an ongoing standoff over claims that the JPSC exam papers were leaked. The New Indian Express reports that no consensus was reached during the discussions, leaving the core dispute unresolved. The students have vowed to maintain their demonstrations until their demands are met.

The protest has drawn wider attention in recent days. Telegraph India reported that actor Piyush Mishra has publicly expressed support for the students, backing their claims of irregularities. In a separate development covered by Hindustan Times, the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, referred to as CJP in the report, announced solidarity with the protesters in Ranchi and pledged to offer "all forms of support."

The agitation has also taken a physical toll on its participants. The Times of India reported that a student leader’s health has deteriorated after a 15-day hunger strike, with the individual stating that their body's organs are struggling to cope. The condition has added urgency to the calls for a resolution.

ThePrint noted earlier that the Jharkhand government had planned to hold fresh talks with the students, a move that led to Saturday’s meeting. With that round now concluded without progress, the immediate question is whether a third attempt at negotiation will be scheduled or if the standoff will escalate further.
