A new Japanese restaurant called Gyudonya has opened its doors in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), bringing canteen-style beef bowls to the area, according to GMA Network.
The eatery focuses on gyudon, a Japanese dish consisting of simmered beef served over rice. GMA Network reports that the restaurant offers its beef bowls in a setting inspired by Japanese canteens, and other outlets covering the opening, including PressReader and ABS-CBN, have highlighted the premium quality of the beef used in the dishes.
The opening introduces another option for diners in BGC seeking Japanese comfort food. The restaurant’s menu centers on the beef bowl, which is prepared using methods like simmering, searing, and stewing, as noted by GMA Network. The Daily Tribune also described the establishment as a Japanese canteen-style gyudon house, emphasizing the casual, everyday dining experience it aims to provide.

Gyudonya’s arrival adds to the growing number of Japanese fast-casual dining spots in the metro. The focus on a single signature dish, gyudon, distinguishes it from broader Japanese restaurants that offer a wider range of items.
Observers will be watching whether Gyudonya’s BGC location becomes a template for further expansion in the Philippines, given the popularity of beef bowls among local diners.
