Inter Milan defeated Feyenoord 3-0 at De Kuip in Rotterdam on Tuesday, while Roma lost 3-2 away to Manchester United at Old Trafford on the same night of Champions League matchday four, according to Sky TG24. Both Italian sides were in action in the league phase, with Inter bouncing back from their derby loss to Milan and Roma letting a two-goal lead slip in Manchester.

Inter's goals came from Yann Bisseck in the 8th minute, Francesco Pio Esposito in the 34th and Piotr Zielinski in the 54th, Sky TG24 reports. The win came under coach Cristian Chivu, whose side had lost to Milan in the derby before travelling to the Netherlands.

At Old Trafford, Roma controlled the first half. Matias Soulé opened the scoring in the 11th minute and Donyell Malen doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 17th, according to Sky TG24. Manchester United turned the match around after the break: Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty in the 58th minute, Matheus Cunha equalised in the 83rd and then scored the winner in the 86th.

Why it matters

The results leave the two Italian clubs in very different moods after the same evening of European football. Inter's away win steadies the side after a domestic setback and gives Chivu's team a result to build on in the new league-phase format, where every match counts toward the single table. Roma's collapse at Old Trafford, by contrast, turns what looked like a commanding first-half performance into a defeat, and the manner of the loss — conceding three times in the second half after leading 2-0 — is the kind of result that shapes a campaign.

The night also underlined how quickly matches can change in the competition. Roma were in control for 45 minutes in Manchester and finished empty-handed, while Inter scored early in Rotterdam and never surrendered their advantage.

How Inter took control in Rotterdam

Sky TG24 reports that Inter started aggressively and were ahead inside eight minutes through Bisseck. Feyenoord, coached by Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, held off further pressure for a while but conceded a second to Esposito in the 34th minute. Zielinski added the third nine minutes into the second half, closing out the scoring.

Chivu fielded a 3-5-2 with J. Martinez in goal and a back three of Bisseck, Akanji and Carlos Augusto. Barella, Calhanoglu, Zielinski and Dimarco featured in midfield, with Esposito and Thuram up front. Chivu made changes in the second half, bringing on Mkhitaryan, Bonny, Sucic, Stankovic and Pavard. Calhanoglu, Akanji and Feyenoord's Zechiel were booked, per Sky TG24.

Corriere della Sera framed the result as Inter getting back on track with three goals at Feyenoord, naming Bisseck, Pio Esposito and Zielinski as the scorers.

Roma's lead slips away in Manchester

Roma, coached by Gian Piero Gasperini, lined up in a 3-4-2-1 with Vasquez in goal and Mancini, Balerdi and Hermoso in defence. Soulé and Malen scored the first-half goals that put the visitors 2-0 up, and at that stage the match looked to be going Roma's way.

The second half changed everything. Fernandes' penalty in the 58th minute gave United a route back into the game, and Cunha struck twice late on — first to level at 2-2 in the 83rd, then to complete the turnaround three minutes later. Sky TG24 describes the second half as closely fought until those closing goals. Malen, Lulli, Heaven and Maguire were booked for fouls, while Soulé and Fernandes were cautioned for unsporting behaviour, according to the outlet.

ANSA reported that Manchester United overturned the match to beat Roma 3-2, alongside Inter's 3-0 win at Feyenoord.
