Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has accepted an offer from Malaysia to help fight forest fires in Kalimantan, The Star reports. The acceptance was reported on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The Jakarta Post also reported that Prabowo accepted the assistance from Malaysia to contain the wildfires. Indonesia's state news agency, ANTARA News, said the country welcomed Malaysia's aid to combat the fires in Kalimantan.
The reports did not describe the scale of the fires or the form the Malaysian assistance would take.
Separately, Jakarta Globe reported that Indonesia says it has received no haze complaints from its ASEAN neighbours. That report appeared alongside coverage of the firefighting assistance.

The Star's summary also referenced a related item from The Malaysian Reserve about Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi delivering a keynote address at the World Halal Summit in Jakarta.
What to watch next: whether Malaysia details the resources it will send, and whether Indonesia reports further regional offers of help as the Kalimantan fires continue.
