India's petroleum minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, said the country is sitting on more than 80 days of fuel reserves, according to thehindu.com. The remark was reported on Monday, 28 September 2026.
Puri also said India has so far managed to work through crude oil supply interruptions linked to the crisis in West Asia, ThePrint reported. The minister described the global energy situation as still difficult because of that conflict, according to Deccan Herald.
Speaking on the government's handling of the situation, Puri said authorities would not allow things to slip out of control, BusinessLine reported.

On trade, The Economic Times reported that India will keep exporting diesel even as the United States weighs a possible ban, at a time when the global fuel market is tightening. The reports did not give further figures on stock levels or export volumes.
The comments place India's fuel buffer and its export plans side by side as global supply conditions remain unsettled. What to watch next: whether Washington moves ahead with a diesel ban and how that affects India's export flows.
