Luke Humphries has said that getting to the World Grand Prix final counts for nothing if he does not go on to beat Gerwyn Price and take the title, according to Sky Sports. The two players meet in the final of the double-start tournament in Leicester.

Humphries booked his place in the decider by defeating James Wade in the semi-finals, the BBC reported. Price, his opponent, is the other half of the final, and Sky Sports is carrying live coverage of the match.

The event is played under the double-start format, in which each leg must be opened with a double. Sky Sports describes the final as a meeting between Humphries and Price in Leicester.

Writing ahead of the match, Humphries made clear that reaching the last stage of the competition was not his goal in itself, per Sky Sports. His comment places the emphasis on the outcome of the final rather than the run that took him there.

Previews of the final have set out the head-to-head record between the two players, along with odds, statistics and betting predictions, with Sporting Life among those publishing a breakdown of the contest. Sky Sports has also confirmed its television time for the final.

For Humphries, the semi-final win over Wade settled one half of the draw. For Price, the final offers the chance to deny him the trophy.

What to watch next: whether Humphries can back up his words against Price, or whether the title goes the other way in Leicester.
