Huawei's next tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT 2, will reportedly arrive in three color options and four storage configurations, with the top tier reaching 2TB, according to Huawei Central.
The report, published Monday, also notes that pre-orders for the device are now live, as confirmed by GSMArena. The news follows earlier claims from Huawei Central that the Mate XT 2 will be the first foldable to feature a hardware-level privacy display.
The storage lineup is expected to include a 2TB variant, which would be the highest capacity offered in the series. The three colors and four storage tiers give buyers a wider range of choices compared to the original Mate XT, which launched with fewer options.
Huawei Central's reporting aligns with broader industry chatter about tri-fold designs. SamMobile noted that the Mate XT 2's existence validates Samsung's push into the same form factor, while Mashable reported that another tri-folding phone is on the way, though with a catch.
The Mate XT 2 is shaping up to be a direct follow-up to the Mate XT, which was the first commercially available tri-fold when it launched in late 2024. The new model appears to build on that foundation with more storage headroom and a privacy-focused display feature, though Huawei has not yet confirmed official specifications.
Pre-orders being live suggests a formal announcement could come soon. The key question now is whether the hardware-level privacy display will be exclusive to the Mate XT 2 or if it will appear in other Huawei devices later this year.
