Residents in earthquake-prone regions can now receive early warnings directly on their smartphones. According to Lmneuquen.com, both Android and iPhone devices offer built-in features that notify users when seismic activity is detected nearby.
The process for activating the alerts differs between the two operating systems. Android users can typically find the option within their device settings, often under location or safety and emergency menus. iPhone users, meanwhile, can enable the feature through the notification settings, depending on their region and iOS version. Lmneuquen.com notes that the exact steps may vary slightly depending on the phone model and software update.
The reporting from Lmneuquen.com also points to additional coverage from other outlets, including La Gaceta and Infobae, which have published similar guides. These articles highlight that Google's Android system includes an earthquake alert feature that uses the phone's sensors to detect tremors. The system can send warnings seconds before shaking begins, giving users a brief window to take cover.
For those who do not have the feature enabled by default, the guides recommend checking the phone's settings menu and searching for "earthquake alerts" or "seismic alerts." Some regions may require users to download a third-party app if the built-in option is unavailable.
The ability to receive these alerts depends on both the device and the user's location. Not all countries or carriers support the service, and users should verify that their phone is connected to the internet to receive notifications.
As seismic monitoring technology improves, more devices are expected to include these safety features by default. Users are advised to check for software updates and review their phone's emergency settings to ensure the alerts are active.
