Padraig Harrington has been appointed as a vice-captain for Team Europe at the 2027 Ryder Cup, according to Sky Sports. Europe captain Luke Donald made the announcement, with the match scheduled to take place at Adare Manor in Ireland.
Harrington, a three-time major winner, previously captained Europe in the 2021 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits, where the United States won 19-9. Sky Sports reports that Harrington expressed surprise at the appointment, saying he did not expect to wear the European Ryder Cup logo again.
The 2027 Ryder Cup will be the first held in Ireland since 2006, when Europe won at The K Club. Adare Manor, a resort in County Limerick, hosted the JP McManus Pro-Am in 2022 and will stage its first Ryder Cup.
Donald, who led Europe to victory in Rome in 2023, is building his backroom staff for the Adare Manor match. Harrington joins a vice-captaincy team that will support Donald in preparing the European side.

The appointment adds experience to Europe’s leadership, with Harrington having played in six Ryder Cups as a player and captained the team once. His return to the European setup comes after he served as a vice-captain under Paul McGinley in 2014.
The 2027 Ryder Cup is set for late September at Adare Manor, with Europe aiming to retain the trophy after winning in 2023.
