Guangzhou Music Park officially opened its gates on Wednesday, Aug. 26, with live performances from Hong Kong pop singer Mike Tsang (曾比特) and local artist Liang Shanshan (梁山山), according to Guangzhou Daily’s New Huacheng outlet.
The opening event drew a sizable crowd, with the two singers taking the stage as part of the park’s inaugural celebrations. Guangzhou Daily reported that the atmosphere was lively, though specific set details or attendance figures were not disclosed in the initial coverage.
The park’s launch coincides with the first Pop Music Creation Conference, which kicked off in the city the same week, as reported by People’s Daily Online. That event, along with the new venue, appears to be part of a broader push to revive Guangzhou’s status as a hub for popular music — a role the city once held, according to a separate analysis by 36Kr that described the effort as polishing an “old brand” in a city with trillion-yuan consumer spending.

Local media also noted the presence of well-known directors and Greater Bay Area music stars at the opening, per China Daily. The park is being positioned as a dedicated space for live performances and music-related activities, though longer-term programming has yet to be announced.
What to watch next: whether the park and the new conference will translate into sustained momentum for Guangzhou’s music scene, or remain one-off celebrations.
