Germany's largest offshore wind farm, He Dreiht, has been completed and connected to the grid, according to Golem. The project, located in the North Sea near Helgoland, reached full operational status after all 64 turbines were installed.

Energy company EnBW confirmed that every turbine at the site is now in place, as reported by the company and NWZonline. The wind farm's completion marks a significant milestone for Germany's offshore wind capacity, making it the country's biggest installation of its kind to date.

The project has not been without controversy. FOCUS online reports that a debate has emerged over the financing of the wind farm, with some critics arguing that public funds are being used to support what they describe as a chaotic expansion of renewable energy infrastructure.

The completion of He Dreiht follows a construction phase that saw all turbine installations finished, according to EnBW's official statement. The wind farm's location off the coast of Helgoland in the North Sea positions it in an area known for strong and consistent wind conditions, which are essential for efficient power generation.

With all turbines now operational, He Dreiht is expected to contribute substantially to Germany's renewable energy output. The project adds to the country's growing portfolio of offshore wind installations as it pursues its energy transition goals.

The successful commissioning of He Dreiht sets a new benchmark for offshore wind projects in German waters. Observers will now watch how the debate over its financing develops and whether similar large-scale projects can proceed without relying on public subsidies.
