Galatasaray have confirmed that striker Victor Osimhen underwent surgery on his left knee, according to Hürriyet. The 27-year-old Nigeria international was injured during the club's UEFA Champions League match against Stuttgart, and scans detected a loose fragment in the joint.

The club said Osimhen had arthroscopic knee surgery on Saturday, 7 November 2026. The procedure was carried out by club doctor Yener İnce at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital. Hürriyet reports that he is expected to be out for roughly three weeks.

Osimhen was removed from the squad for Galatasaray's match against Amed Sportif Faaliyetler because of the injury. He will also sit out the Samsunspor fixture scheduled after the international break, meaning the club's leading attacking option will be unavailable for two league games.

Why it matters

Osimhen has been central to Galatasaray's season. According to Hürriyet, he has appeared in 11 matches in the yellow-and-red shirt this campaign, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists. Losing that output for any stretch puts pressure on the rest of the squad, particularly with two high-profile fixtures on the horizon.

The timing is awkward. After the Amed Sportif Faaliyetler and Samsunspor matches, Galatasaray face Aston Villa in the Champions League and Beşiktaş in the Süper Lig derby. Both are the kind of games in which a proven goalscorer tends to matter most.

A targeted return in Europe

Galatasaray's medical and coaching staff are reportedly aiming to have Osimhen available for the Aston Villa match on 24 November. Hürriyet reports that the club wants him back in the squad for that Champions League fixture, following his treatment and rehabilitation programme.

What the club has said

Galatasaray's official statement covered the medical facts: the injury occurred in the Stuttgart match, imaging showed a loose fragment in the left knee, and surgery took place on Saturday. The club named İnce as the surgeon and the hospital where the operation was performed.

Beyond that, the details of Osimhen's rehabilitation schedule and his exact availability have not been publicly set out. Reports of the three-week estimate and the Villa target come from Hürriyet's reporting rather than from a formal club timetable.

The fixtures he will miss

The Amed Sportif Faaliyetler game is the immediate absence, with Osimhen already withdrawn from the matchday squad. The Samsunspor match after the international break follows, and those two league fixtures represent the clearest, most concrete cost of the injury.

Whether he features against Aston Villa will depend on how his knee responds to rehabilitation. The Beşiktaş derby that follows in the Süper Lig gives the club a second near-term benchmark for his return.

What to watch

The coming weeks will show whether Galatasaray's attacking plans hold without their top scorer and whether the 24 November target is met. Watch for updates from the club on Osimhen's rehabilitation and for his inclusion, or absence, in the squad named for the Aston Villa match.
