Galatasaray defeated Amed Sportif Faaliyetler 4-3 in the eleventh round of the Süper Lig on Saturday, according to Hürriyet, and kept their place at the top of the table. The home side built a three-goal lead before the visitors fought back to within one, then restored a two-goal cushion late on. The result leaves Galatasaray on 28 points, with Amed Sportif Faaliyetler staying on 23.
Why it matters
The win preserves Galatasaray's position at the summit of the league as the season moves past its opening quarter. Hürriyet also reports that the match saw Okan Buruk break his own record and write his name into the club's history, though the report does not specify which record was surpassed. For Amed Sportif Faaliyetler, the defeat means a spirited second-half comeback counted for nothing in the standings.
How the seven goals unfolded
Galatasaray took the lead in the seventh minute. Torreira won the ball in the opposition half after the defence failed to clear, and slipped it into the box for Leao, who beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one. Hürriyet notes that Leao had gone close a minute earlier, shooting just over from the left side of the area after a Batrakov pass.
The second goal arrived on the stroke of half-time and was credited as an own goal to Amedspor goalkeeper Lafont. According to Hürriyet, Batrakov drove into the box from the right after a Yunus pass and shot from a narrow angle; Lafont got a hand to the ball but could only push it into the top corner.
There was a third goal for the hosts in the 59th minute. Batrakov again was the shooter, striking from the edge of the area after Sallai picked him out following another unconvincing clearance. The ball deflected off defender Bates and left Lafont wrong-footed, according to the report.
Amedspor responded quickly. In the 62nd minute, Dia Saba scored directly from a free kick taken from the left, and although goalkeeper Uğurcan got a touch, the ball still found the top corner. Three minutes later, Furkan crossed from the left and Orban headed in from close to the penalty spot to make it 3-2.
Barış Alper Yılmaz eased the pressure in the 80th minute, heading in Sara's cross from the right after rising well in front of goal. Hürriyet reports that Sara nearly added a fifth two minutes later, his shot from the right side of the box coming back off the post.
Amedspor had the last word in stoppage time. With the defence unable to clear, the ball fell to Yira Sor inside the area, and he found the far corner from the right to complete the scoring at 4-3.
Earlier chances and the goalkeepers
The report records several other openings. In the 18th minute, Uğurcan pushed a powerful Dia Saba strike from outside the box around the post. Five minutes later, Lafont turned away a Leao effort from the left. In the 37th minute, Krasniqi met a Dia Saba through ball inside the area but shot wide from the right. Early in the second half, Dia Saba tried to catch Uğurcan off his line from midfield, but the goalkeeper recovered to gather the ball. In the 76th minute, Lafont kept out a header from Deniz Gül at the back post after a Batrakov free kick.
What comes next
Galatasaray will host Samsunspor in the twelfth round, while Amed Sportif Faaliyetler face Çaykur Rizespor.
