Foreign investors recorded net purchases of Rp 1.24 trillion on Indonesian stock exchanges on Friday, August 7, 2026, according to a report from kontan.co.id. The buying spree came at the end of the trading week and pushed the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) higher.

The IHSG rose 0.71% during the first trading session, with foreign investors actively accumulating shares in major companies, as reported by idnfinancials.com. Among the most heavily bought stocks were Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BBRI) and coal miner Bumi Resources (BUMI), according to the same report.

By the close of trading, the IHSG had gained 65.94 points, as noted by ANTARA Foto. The benchmark index finished the session stronger, with market participants also keeping an eye on upcoming U.S. employment data, according to ANTARA News Jambi.

The strong foreign inflow on Friday marks a notable shift in sentiment, following a period where analysts had suggested the IHSG could enter a consolidation phase. In a separate note, analysts at Bareksa recommended that investors watch stocks such as TAPG, HRTA, and INTP, while cautioning that the index might see sideways movement in the near term.

The Rp 1.24 trillion net buy figure represents one of the larger daily foreign inflows seen in recent weeks, signaling renewed appetite from international investors for Indonesian equities. The focus on BBRI, a major state-owned lender, and BUMI, a large coal producer, suggests interest in both financial and commodity-linked sectors.

Market observers will now be watching whether the foreign buying momentum carries into the following week, particularly as investors digest the latest U.S. jobs data and its potential impact on global risk appetite.
