The first promotional image from the upcoming film Shams El Zanaty: Days of Mischief has been released, showing star Mohamed Emam in character, according to Egyptian outlet Youm7.
The picture marks the initial public glimpse of the sequel, which continues the story of the original Shams El Zanaty film. Youm7 published the image on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, offering fans their first look at the project's visual direction.
Several other Egyptian media outlets have also reported on the production. Al-Masry Al-Youm notes that Mohamed Emam shared the photo himself and indicated a release date for the film, though specific timing was not detailed in the reporting. Separately, Al-Watan reports that veteran actor Adel Emam, Mohamed's father, will contribute his voice to the sequel after a long absence from the spotlight, in a show of support for his son's project.
The production has not been without complications. Shorouk News reports that a new statement was issued to clarify the partnership structure of the film following disputes over production shares. The statement aims to address confusion about who holds which stakes in the project.

Additionally, Youm7's sister publication Al-Mal reports that actor Bayoumi Fouad has joined the cast, appearing alongside Mohamed Emam in the sequel. His role adds to an ensemble that appears to be growing as production continues.
The original Shams El Zanaty film, which drew from a popular Egyptian television series, has built anticipation for this follow-up. With the first image now public and casting news circulating, attention turns to whether the production team can resolve its reported internal disagreements and deliver the film on schedule.
