The new EuroLeague basketball season has begun, and Spanish involvement runs deep, according to coverage compiled by La Voz de Galicia. In his analysis for the outlet, Alberto Blanco frames the start of the campaign as the arrival of what he calls the league's "fire," a reference to the intensity of the coming competition.
Spanish coaches occupy seven of the 20 head coaching positions across Europe's top club competition, El País reports. That figure places Spanish bench leadership at roughly a third of the league.
The season also brings a notable storyline involving Real Madrid, according to Diario AS, which reports on a figure who said he never expected a move to the Madrid club and described his time in Valencia in glowing terms. Barça and Real Madrid both open their EuroLeague campaigns, and La Vanguardia notes that viewers can watch both matches for a modest price.
Expectations around the competition are high. MARCA describes this as the best EuroLeague yet, pointing to squad depth, signings, title favorites and new features as reasons for that assessment.
With the season underway, the early weeks will show whether the Spanish coaching contingent and the two Spanish giants can turn that buildup into results on the court.
