The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has issued an urgent warning for Friday, August 28, 2026, forecasting wave heights of up to 5 meters and disrupted navigation along several beaches, according to Youm7.

The alert covers coastal areas where rough sea conditions are expected to persist, with the authority advising against marine activities. In response, local officials have taken precautionary measures, including a three-day swimming ban in the waters off New Alamein City, as reported by the Al-Ahram Gate website. Additionally, Lake Bardawil in North Sinai has been closed to activity due to the adverse weather, according to Shorouk News.

The weather authority also noted that the perceived temperature in Cairo could reach 38 degrees Celsius, with strong winds expected to contribute to the unstable conditions. The Beheira governor has raised the level of preparedness to address the potential impacts of the weather phenomena and wind activity forecast for the coming day, as reported by Akhbarak Net.

These measures reflect a coordinated response across multiple governorates to protect residents and visitors from the hazards of high waves and strong winds. The warnings come as part of a broader weather system affecting the region, with officials urging caution near shorelines and during any marine travel.

The situation is expected to remain under close monitoring, with authorities advising the public to follow official updates before planning any beach or maritime activities. Further announcements may follow if conditions worsen or extend beyond the current forecast window.
