The Egyptian Football Association has appointed referee Amin Omar to take charge of the third-round Egyptian Premier League match between Al Ahly and Smouha, according to a report from the Egyptian outlet Youm7.
The match is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at Cairo International Stadium, as confirmed by Al Ahly's official website.
Amin Omar will lead the officiating crew for the fixture, which marks an early-season test for both sides in the domestic competition.
Al Ahly enters the match with some positive team news. According to a report from the Egyptian news portal Shorouk, the club's medical staff has confirmed that forward Kabaka has recovered from his injury and is available for selection against Smouha.
However, the defending champions will still be without midfielder Imam Ashour, who remains sidelined for the fixture, according to sports outlet Yalla Kora. The same report noted that playmaker Afsha is set to return to the squad for the match.
Smouha, for their part, have announced a 23-player squad for the encounter, as reported by the news aggregator Akhbarak Net.
The match represents an opportunity for Al Ahly to continue their push at the top of the table in the early stages of the league season, while Smouha will look to spring an upset against one of Egypt's most successful clubs.
Kickoff is expected later today at the Cairo venue, with both teams aiming to secure a positive result in the third round of fixtures.
