Ducati has introduced SP versions of both the Panigale V4 superbike and the Streetfighter V4 naked, according to Motorcycle News. The two machines were revealed in a shared black-and-red colour scheme and are scheduled to reach dealers in March 2027. Both sit above the standard models in Ducati's line-up and carry parts developed in the World Superbike championship.

The announcement continues a pattern for the Italian manufacturer, which has offered SP variants of these two families before. Motorcycle News reports that the pair also form part of Ducati's wider run of special editions marking its 100th anniversary.

Why it matters

The SP badge is Ducati's way of separating a range-topping, low-volume machine from the regular production bike, and these two follow that formula closely: more power, lighter components and hardware borrowed from racing. For buyers already considering the Panigale V4S or the Streetfighter V4 S, the SP versions represent a step further up in both specification and exclusivity.

The timing also matters. Both bikes land in showrooms in March 2027, giving Ducati fresh flagship models as it celebrates its centenary year.

Panigale V4 SP: more revs, less friction

The fully faired Panigale V4 SP uses a version of the 1,103cc V4 Desmosedici Stradale engine already fitted to the Panigale V4S, but with changes aimed at extracting more from it. According to Motorcycle News, the rev ceiling rises by 500rpm, the final drive gearing is longer, and internal work was done to cut mechanical friction.

Ducati quotes 215bhp at 13,500rpm and 89lb.ft of torque at 11,000rpm. The bike also gains carbon fibre wheels, which Ducati has approved for carrying a pillion, a dry clutch, and the Ducati Racing Gearbox with neutral positioned below first gear — hardware that Motorcycle News says was developed in the World Superbike championship.

Other details include a billet-machined steering head carrying its own serial number and a brushed aluminium fuel tank. The aerodynamics have been reworked as well, with cornering sidepods at the base of the side fairings and larger front wings. Ducati claims the package produces 25% more vertical load at 167mph (270km/h) than the standard Panigale V4.

Suspension comes from an electronic Öhlins Smart EC3 system at both ends, with adjustments made through a 6.9in colour TFT dash. An adjustable rear shock linkage rod carried over from the Panigale V4R allows ride height to be changed independently of spring preload, and billet aluminium footpegs with carbon fibre heel guards let riders alter their position.

For track use, Ducati offers a race-only Akrapovič exhaust that it says unlocks a further 10.8bhp and removes a claimed 6.6kg, bringing kerb weight to 180.4kg before the 17-litre fuel load is added.

Streetfighter V4 SP: naked aggression, same recipe

The Streetfighter V4 SP shares the stealthy livery, carbon wheels, brushed aluminium tank and adjustable footpegs of its faired sibling. Its numbering is laser-engraved into the blacked-out upright handlebars rather than placed on the steering head.

Its engine is the same 1,103cc V4, tuned to a claimed 211bhp at 13,500rpm and 88.2lb.ft of torque at 11,250rpm. That is slightly below the Panigale's output, though Motorcycle News notes the naked bike actually reaches peak torque at higher revs than the fully faired version.

Ducati says the split five-spoke carbon rims cut 950 grams of unsprung weight, reducing moment of inertia by 12% at the front and 19% at the rear. Carbon fibre winglets are unique to this model, and the front and rear mudguards are made from the same material.

Braking is handled by Brembo Hypure front calipers paired with an MCS 19.21 front master cylinder that has a remote adjuster. The Streetfighter also gets a billet aluminium dry clutch, but it does without the racing gearbox fitted to the Panigale SP.

Suspension is electronically adjusted Öhlins hardware at both ends — NIX 30 forks and a TTX 36 rear shock — along with a steering damper, which Motorcycle News notes is also found on the standard Streetfighter V4 S. Settings on both SP models are changed via the 6.9in TFT display.

Both bikes come with lean-sensitive electronics and blanking plates that let owners strip road equipment for track days.

What to watch

With both models confirmed for March 2027, the next things to watch are pricing and allocation, neither of which Ducati has disclosed.
