Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has revealed his next career move after music, saying he intends to start acting and move into film production, according to Tribune Online.
The singer made the disclosure in a recent statement, with multiple Nigerian outlets, including Punch Newspapers and The Nation Newspaper, reporting his comments. Davido said he wants to begin acting soon, and Pulse Nigeria also reported that he has plans to go into both acting and film production.
The announcement marks a potential major shift for the artist, who is known globally for his work in the Afrobeats genre. Legit.ng described the news as a hint at a significant career change beyond music, though Davido did not specify a timeline for when he would make the transition.
Davido's interest in film follows a trend of African musicians expanding into the entertainment industry's visual side. The Nigerian film sector, often referred to as Nollywood, has grown in international reach in recent years, and several music stars have crossed over into acting or production roles.
According to the reports, Davido's plans appear to be in an early stage, with no specific projects or roles announced yet. The singer's comments suggest he sees film as a long-term pursuit rather than an immediate departure from music.
Fans will be watching to see whether Davido announces concrete film projects in the coming months, and whether his move into acting will mirror the success he has found in music.
