The husband-and-wife team behind the Australian romantic comedy Colin from Accounts have said they decided to end the series because they wanted to leave before the show declined. The Guardian reports that co-creators and stars Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer said they would not want to write the show with anyone else.
The third season, which recently aired, is the final one. According to The Guardian, Brammall and Dyer explained that they felt the story had reached its natural conclusion. They said they preferred to end the show on a high note rather than let it run too long.
The series, which follows the relationship between Gordon and Ashley after a chance encounter involving a dog, became a hit for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. News.com.au reported that the stars have teased what comes next for their careers.

In an interview with The Australian, the couple said they wanted to "leave the party before someone vomits," using a metaphor to explain their decision to stop while the show was still popular. The Daily Telegraph also quoted one of the stars saying the show had to end.
Fans who have not yet seen the final season can stream all three seasons now.
