China's 2026 National Day holiday box office passed 1.1 billion yuan, according to Sohu, in a period the outlet describes as a reshuffling of film supply. Sohu reports that big-budget tentpole releases largely stepped aside, and platform-type companies instead backed the titles that carried the holiday slate.

The shift in who supplied the films is the central story Sohu tells. Rather than a lineup dominated by major event pictures, the holiday market was shaped by companies operating on a platform model, and those firms were credited with the 1.1 billion yuan total Sohu cites.

Other outlets reported related developments over the same period. Guangming网 said the holiday box office crossed 1.1 billion yuan and that several films announced plans for releases abroad. 凤凰网 described a varied mix of films arriving in theaters and pointed to what it called "film plus" activity energizing the market, while finance.sina.com.cn reported strong moviegoing interest in Inner Mongolia during the holiday. A separate finance.sina.com.cn report focused on Tinghu district in Yancheng, where "film plus" programming was credited with spurring holiday consumer activity.

Taken together, the coverage points to a holiday window defined less by a single dominant blockbuster and more by a broader spread of titles and tie-in activity, with platform-oriented companies playing a larger role in supply.

What to watch next: whether the overseas release plans announced for several of these films materialize, and whether platform-led slates continue into upcoming holiday periods.
