A Maryland judge has ruled that “Top Chef” star Eric Adjepong cannot be left alone with his seven-year-old daughter, following a finding of abuse. The decision comes after TMZ reported that Adjepong allegedly violated a restraining order held by his ex-wife before the child’s protective order was granted.
According to TMZ, the court action stems from claims that Adjepong breached a previous restraining order his ex-wife had obtained. The outlet reported that a protective order was later issued for the couple’s daughter, leading to the current restrictions on Adjepong’s visitation. The Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post confirmed that a judge found sufficient evidence of abuse to bar Adjepong from unsupervised contact with the child.
Adjepong, a Ghanaian-American chef who gained fame as a contestant and later a guest judge on “Top Chef,” has not publicly commented on the allegations. The protective order and visitation restrictions remain in place as the case proceeds in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Legal experts note that family court rulings involving protective orders often require the accused to comply with supervised visitation or risk further legal consequences. The outcome of this case may affect Adjepong’s public appearances and professional commitments.
The next court hearing will determine whether the restrictions remain or are modified based on new evidence.
