Bursa Malaysia is preparing for up to two significant initial public offerings before the close of 2026, according to a report from Malay Mail. The exchange operator’s expectation signals continued momentum in the Malaysian capital market during the second half of the year.

The news comes as Bursa Malaysia reported a 15.2% rise in profit after tax and minority interests to RM144.6 million for the first half of 2026, according to BusinessToday Malaysia. The company also declared a dividend of 16.5 sen per share. Separately, Moomoo noted that Bursa Malaysia’s second-quarter profit jumped 26%, and the exchange has set a target of RM34 billion in IPO market capitalisation for the year.

Malaysia and Singapore led Southeast Asian IPO activity in the first six months of 2026, according to a report cited by dars.gov.et. That regional leadership position appears to be carrying into the latter part of the year, with the exchange now eyeing fresh large-scale listings.

However, not all analysts are bullish on the near-term outlook. The Edge Malaysia reported that CIMB Securities expects a softer performance for Bursa Malaysia in the second half of 2026, citing election jitters and geopolitical risk as potential headwinds. That cautious view stands in contrast to the exchange’s own pipeline expectations.

The combination of strong first-half earnings and an active IPO pipeline suggests Bursa Malaysia is aiming to sustain its regional standing, even as external uncertainties loom. Investors will be watching for confirmation of the two expected listings and whether the RM34 billion market capitalisation target remains within reach by December.
