Brest beat Lyon 2-0 at home on Sunday in the tenth round of Ligue 1, according to RMC Sport, with French forwards Noah Edjouma and Ludovic Ajorque scoring the goals. Edjouma opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, and Ajorque converted a penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time to complete the result.

The defeat keeps Lyon in fourth place in the French top flight. Brest climbed two positions with the win and now sit ninth, RMC Sport reported.

Why it matters

The result interrupts Lyon's push toward the Ligue 1 podium. According to L'Équipe, the club failed to return to the top three before Carlos Vicens takes over on its bench. The timing gives the incoming coach a difficult starting point, with the team unable to build momentum from its league position.

For Brest, the three points carry weight at the other end of the table. Moving up two places to ninth gives the side breathing room and a result against one of the division's stronger clubs. RMC Sport's match coverage described it as Lyon falling from a height at Brest.

How the match unfolded

Brest took the lead midway through the first half through Edjouma. RMC Sport reported that the French attacker struck with his left foot from inside the area on the right, and Lyon goalkeeper Greif turned the effort behind for a corner. The scoreline stood at 1-0 to Brest at the end of the first 45 minutes, a half-time position also noted by Le Progrès, which reported the Lyonnais trailing at the break.

Lyon pressed for an equaliser after the interval. RMC Sport's live coverage described Kluivert heading from close range after a corner, with Selvik saving, and Tagliafico following up with a right-footed attempt that the Brest keeper also kept out. The Brest defence eventually cleared the danger.

Lyon were awarded a penalty during the second half when Boudache went down in the area under contact from Lloris. The referee pointed to the spot without hesitation, according to RMC Sport, but then went to the video monitor to review the images himself. After the review, the official announced that there had been no penalty and instead booked Boudache for simulation.

At the other end, Ajorque had earlier forced a save from Greif with a left-footed attempt from inside the box. In the closing stages, Ajorque took another chance from the left, and Greif intervened again. In the aftermath, Athekame was judged to have fouled Locko inside the area, and the referee awarded Brest a penalty.

Ajorque took the spot kick and converted with a left-footed strike. RMC Sport reported that Greif had dived the correct way, to his left, but could not reach the ball. The goal in the 90th minute plus four sealed the win at 2-0.

Other chances on the night

RMC Sport's coverage recorded further openings for both sides. Nakamura struck with his left from inside the area, and Lala deflected the ball out for a corner. Greif came out of his area and was beaten by Lala, whose long right-footed attempt from distance went wide. After a corner, Magnetti attempted a left-footed volley from range that flew well off target.

Brest broke on the counter at one stage, but Doumbia slipped as he shot with his right at the edge of the area, and the ball went past the post. Locko, set up by Doumbia inside the box, hit a first-time right-footed effort wide. Merah took a free kick from the left towards the area, and his curled right-footed attempt finished off target.

For Lyon, Nuamah shot with his right from inside the area after a free kick, but the effort posed no danger to Brest. Abner delivered a cross to the far post, and Tolisso attempted a right-footed volley with the inside of his boot that went wide. Lyon also won a corner early in the second half through Tagliafico.

One incident saw Selvik touch a mis-hit cross from Athekame and concede a corner to Lyon, but the referee reversed the decision because the ball had already gone out of play before the contact. Baldé was flagged offside, allowing Lyon to restart attacks. Gomes Rodriguez was also caught offside as Brest looked to relaunch.

What to watch

Lyon's next fixtures will show how quickly Vicens can settle the side and whether the club can recover its push toward the podium. Brest will look to build on a win that lifted them to ninth.
