Brazilian Supreme Court justice Kássio Nunes Marques has declined to issue a broad prior authorization covering the transportation of Indigenous voters, UOL Notícias reported on Saturday. The decision concerns travel arrangements for the second round of voting.

The ruling comes as the federal prosecutor's office (PGR) asked the Supreme Court to strike down a requirement that Indigenous voters obtain advance permission before being transported to polling stations, according to G1 and Estadão. The restriction was imposed by Brazil's electoral court (TSE), CartaCapital reported.

Separately, the Federal Public Ministry said a court had widened a decision to guarantee assistance to quilombola and traditional communities during the runoff, the MPF reported.

The dispute centers on how election authorities oversee the movement of voters from remote and traditional communities on voting day, and on who must sign off on those arrangements.

What to watch: whether the Supreme Court acts on the PGR's request before the second-round vote.
