The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has replaced Amit Malviya as the head of its information technology cell, according to a report by ThePrint published Monday. The change is part of a wider restructuring of the party’s national team.
ThePrint reported the leadership switch without detailing the specific reasons behind Malviya’s removal. The report did not name his successor or provide a timeline for the transition.
The IT cell leadership change comes alongside other appointments in the BJP’s national structure. According to The Hindu, the party has named Purandeshwari and Ram Madhav as national vice-presidents. Telegraph India added that Ram Madhav, Smriti Irani, and Biplab Deb are part of the new national team, with Piyush Goyal appointed as treasurer.
The Times of India framed the broader reshuffle as a “reset button” for the party, with an eye on Uttar Pradesh and a “Mission 2029” strategy. The new team is led by Nitin Nabin, who appears to be central to the party’s forward planning. The Hindustan Times reported that the new national team includes 12 women and six leaders from minority communities.

The changes suggest the BJP is adjusting its organizational leadership ahead of future electoral contests, particularly in the politically significant state of Uttar Pradesh. The inclusion of women and minority leaders in the new team may signal an effort to broaden the party’s appeal.
What to watch next: whether the BJP announces a formal successor for the IT cell chief position and how the new team’s composition influences the party’s digital strategy and state-level campaigns.
