Madan Mitra has called for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and former minister Indranil Sen to be brought together for questioning, according to ABP Ananda. His remarks came after the Enforcement Directorate questioned Sen in connection with an investigation into alleged irregularities in the state's Durga Puja pass scheme.
According to Anandabazar, the ED has claimed that a company linked to Sen transferred 30 lakh rupees into an account associated with Banerjee. The agency made this claim after questioning the former minister as part of its probe into the case.
The investigation has also involved searches. ittefaq.com.bd reported that corruption allegations against Sen, described as close to Banerjee, led to searches at 15 locations at the same time. Sangbad Pratidin reported that the case involves alleged financial irregularities connected to Durga Puja, and that a single plot of land owned by Sen's wife is valued at more than two crore rupees.
The matter has drawn political reaction as well. Duranta Barta reported that BJP leader Dilip Ghosh attacked Banerjee over the Pujo pass case, saying she presents herself as a symbol of honesty while, in his words, implicating others. The reports cited here do not include responses from Banerjee or Sen to the specific allegations.
The ED's claims and the search details come from the outlets named above, and the underlying allegations have not been independently verified by CYBEV.io. What to watch next is whether the agency seeks to question Banerjee directly, and how the Trinamool Congress responds to the transfer claim.
