Beşiktaş defeated Başakşehir 2-0 at Tüpraş Stadyumu on Monday evening in week nine of the Trendyol Süper Lig, according to Fanatik. The home side scored both goals after the interval and moved to 19 points with the win, while Başakşehir stayed on 11.

The result gave Beşiktaş a fifth win in five home league matches this season. Fanatik reported that Oh Hyeon-gyu and Olaitan were the scorers.

Why it matters

The three points keep Beşiktaş's home record perfect and add to a run the club has built in front of its own supporters. For Başakşehir, the defeat leaves Nuri Şahin's side on 11 points after a match the coach had described beforehand as one of the toughest away trips on the calendar.

Fanatik noted that Olaitan's strike carried a familiar look: the outlet described it as similar to the goal he scored against Crystal Palace, a comparison that underlines how quickly the winger has settled into his role on the left.

How the goals arrived

Beşiktaş broke through after the restart. According to Fanatik, an attack down the left involving Leandro Trossard ended with the ball deflecting off the Başakşehir defence and falling to Olaitan on the edge of the area. He struck it firmly from distance and found the net.

The second came from pressing. Fanatik reported that Başakşehir centre-back Emin Bayram lost the ball in his own half, Oh won it under pressure, carried it into the box, rounded the goalkeeper in a one-on-one and finished. The goal was the South Korean forward's first in the Süper Lig this season, per Fanatik.

Oh had entered the game in place of Wilfried Ndidi and tested the goalkeeper almost immediately with a shot from outside the area that Muhammed Şengezer pushed away at his near post.

A first half of near misses

The opening period produced chances at both ends but no goals. Fanatik reported that Trossard ran onto a long ball in behind and went clear, only to see his angle narrow and Muhammed deny him. At the other end, Olivier Kemen found space in the box and aimed for the corner, but Nübel stretched to keep it out.

Beşiktaş lost Vaclav Cerny to injury before the break, with Ernest Poku coming on. Poku was involved repeatedly: he set up a Vlahovic effort with a backheel that the goalkeeper stopped, and later worked space on the right before forcing Muhammed into a foot save as the home side pushed for a second goal.

Vlahovic also headed against the crossbar from close range after Ndidi's low delivery from the byline, and Ndidi himself shot just wide from the edge of the area. Fanatik reported that Vlahovic went down in the box under pressure from a crowded Başakşehir defence, with the home crowd calling for a penalty, but play continued.

Başakşehir had their own openings. Fanatik reported that Muhammed failed to control a high ball, Vlahovic tried to capitalise, and the loose ball reached Olaitan on the edge of the area, whose shot at an empty goal struck the top of the crossbar. Skov Olsen also broke forward from left-back and shot narrowly wide.

What the coaches said

Speaking before kick-off, Başakşehir coach Nuri Şahin said his team had prepared for a difficult away match against a side that had reconnected with its supporters after many years, praising Beşiktaş's squad and coach. He said his players had been rising in both performance and points in recent weeks and that the plan was to stay true to their own game.

Beşiktaş's coach said his side had enjoyed an extra day of rest compared with their midweek fixture against Crystal Palace and had rotated for that game. He praised the physical quality and pace of the players who featured, called Başakşehir a tough opponent and Şahin a good coach, and said he trusted his whole squad, adding that further changes and a possible switch to two strikers remained options during matches.

On Ndidi, he said the midfielder had seen less playing time than some teammates but had produced good work, with high passing quality and physical presence, and would fill in well for Miretti and Orkun.

Match details

The game kicked off at 19.00 at Tüpraş Stadyumu, refereed by Ümit Öztürk with Kerem Ersoy and Candaş Elbil as assistants and Reşat Onur Coşkunses as fourth official. John Allan Beaton was on VAR, assisted by Özer Özden, and beIN Sports 2 carried the broadcast, according to Fanatik.

Beşiktaş next face a schedule that will test whether their home form can carry over to away fixtures, with the coach's rotation options and Cerny's fitness both worth watching.
