A business owner in British Columbia's Cariboo region described the sound of an approaching wildfire as being like two 747 jet engines before fleeing the area, according to Global News. The fast-moving fire prompted evacuations in and around the community of Clinton, located about 300 kilometres north of Vancouver.
Global News reports that the business owner, whose property was threatened, said the noise of the blaze was overwhelming and forced a rapid departure. The fire has been raging near Clinton, and the District has been updating evacuees as crews work to contain it, according to CBC. CityNews Vancouver noted that a small amount of rainfall—described as a "trace"—helped calm some flames, but drought conditions persist across the fire-stricken south Cariboo region.
The mayor of Clinton stated that crews are now assessing damage within the community, as reported by CP24. Meanwhile, evacuees from 70 Mile House, a nearby community also affected by the fire, have not yet arrived in Prince George, according to the Prince George Citizen.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to displaced residents as firefighting efforts proceed.
