AvtoVAZ has started production of the LADA Azimut, with the first vehicle rolling off the assembly line in Tolyatti, according to augustnews.ru, which carried a live broadcast of the event. The milestone marks the Russian automaker's entry into the crossover segment with a model it has positioned against established global brands, pravda.ru reported.
The launch was accompanied by reports of a second, less publicized development: a hybrid version of the Azimut. A prototype of that hybrid is scheduled to be shown on September 25, according to ВФокусе Mail. Details of the hybrid's powertrain have not been disclosed in the reporting available.
Production volume targets have also emerged. spbdnevnik.ru reports that AvtoVAZ plans to build 20,000 LADA Azimut vehicles during 2027. Pricing for the new crossover remains an open question, with autostat.ru raising the subject without a confirmed figure in the material reviewed.

The Azimut's launch comes as AvtoVAZ seeks to strengthen its position in a segment where foreign manufacturers have historically held a strong presence. The Tolyatti plant, long the center of LADA production, is the site where the new model is being assembled.
What to watch next: the hybrid prototype's unveiling on September 25, and any official confirmation of pricing and 2027 output plans from AvtoVAZ.
