Arsenal have completed the signing of Manchester United winger James Scanlon, according to multiple reports on Saturday. The 24-cap senior international moves to the Emirates Stadium in a deal that includes a special clause, as reported by Yahoo Sports.
The transfer was confirmed by both clubs on their official websites. Arsenal announced the arrival of the forward, while Manchester United confirmed his departure in a separate statement. Football365 also reported the completion of the deal, noting Scanlon's 24 international appearances.
Yahoo Sports reports that the agreement contains a special clause, though the specific details of that clause have not been disclosed in the available reporting. The Manchester Evening News described the move as an emotional farewell for the player, with the transfer confirmation expected around the time of the announcement.
Scanlon joins Arsenal after a period at Manchester United where he developed as a winger. His international experience at senior level adds to the profile he brings to the north London club. The move sees him switch to a Premier League rival, a notable shift within English top-flight football.
The transfer window activity continues as clubs finalise their squads for the season ahead. Arsenal will look to integrate Scanlon into their attacking options, while Manchester United will adjust their squad following his exit.
What to watch next is how quickly Scanlon is integrated into Arsenal's matchday setup and whether the special clause in the agreement becomes relevant in the coming months.
