Santiago Caputo was identified during a police control following the operation surrounding Jair Bolsonaro's flight, according to La Nación. The Argentine outlet reported the identification on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
Coverage of the episode has centered on Misiones, the Argentine province bordering Brazil. MisionesOnline reported that Caputo was seen in several locations there while the Bolsonaro operation was under way. Primera Edición focused on vehicles linked to Yacyretá and on questions the operation left unresolved in the province.
A24.com reported on what it described as the "extraction" of Flávio Bolsonaro, publishing documents it said prove the operation took place in Argentina. Momarandu Corrientes reported that suspicions have fallen on the possible use of resources belonging to EBY, the binational entity that runs the Yacyretá dam, in connection with the escape.
The reports, taken together, describe an operation that moved through Argentine territory near the Brazilian border and drew the attention of local police. The available material does not specify the date or exact location of the checkpoint where Caputo was identified, nor the legal status of any of those involved.
What to watch next: whether Argentine authorities confirm the police control and say what, if anything, the identification of Caputo means for the investigation into the operation in Misiones.
