Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Shanghai on Tuesday for a three-day working visit, according to The Star. The trip marks his fourth official visit to China, Malaysiakini reports.
The visit coincides with two major events in China: the WorldSkills Competition and the Global Digital Trade Expo, which foreign leaders are expected to attend, according to Xinhua.
Ahead of the visit, Deputy Works Minister Ahmad Maslan said the WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai serves as a platform for Malaysia's skilled workers to help attract foreign investors, Bernama reports.
Separately, Malaysia and China are set to strengthen cooperation in natural resource management, according to Malaysia-China Insight.
Anwar's arrival in Shanghai follows domestic political developments in Malaysia, where the Selangor Menteri Besar highlighted an increase in Malay reserve land in the state, Malaysiakini reports.
What to watch next: whether the visit produces concrete agreements on skills development, trade, or resource management between the two countries.
