Italian actress Fiorenza Marchegiani has died, according to a report from la Repubblica published on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The news outlet did not specify her age or the cause of death in its initial report.
Marchegiani was best known for her role in the 1980s film "Ricomincio da tre," a comedy directed by and starring the late Massimo Troisi, la Repubblica notes. She also appeared in the Italian soap operas "Vivere" and "Incantesimo," both of which aired on Italian television.
Additional coverage from Sky TG24 confirms her death and highlights her work alongside Troisi in the film, which is considered a classic of Italian cinema. AnconaToday reports that the city of Osimo, where Marchegiani had ties, is in mourning following the news.
Her son, former Roma defender Alessandro Scardina, paid tribute to his mother in a social media post, according to Corriere dello Sport. The sports daily described a heartfelt message from Scardina, referencing a night of tears in Sofia, though further details of that anecdote were not included in the available reporting.
Espansione TV, a regional outlet, noted that Marchegiani's son also played for Como, a club based near Lake Como, where the soap "Vivere" was filmed. The report underscores the family's connection to the area through both the actress's work and her son's football career.
Marchegiani's career spanned film and television, with her role in "Ricomincio da tre" remaining a touchstone for audiences. The film, released in 1981, helped cement Troisi's reputation as a major comedic talent in Italian cinema.
Further details regarding funeral arrangements or surviving family members have not yet been made public. Readers are advised to follow la Repubblica and other Italian outlets for updates as they emerge.
