The developer behind the shooter WARDOGS has apologised for parts of its Season 2 rollout, according to a report by تروجيمنج. Season 2 launched on 15 October, and the studio, BULKHEAD, says the rebalancing it applied produced a faster progression curve than it had intended. Many players reached the highest tier of their equipment in a short space of time, which the team says was not the outcome it wanted.

BULKHEAD has ruled out wiping player progress a second time. It is now looking at whether it can speed up work on Season 3 content and launch it earlier, arguing that stripping away achievements and progress players have already earned since Season 2 began would not be fair.

Why it matters

Progression pacing is one of the most sensitive levers a live-service shooter can pull. When players climb to the top of the gear ladder too fast, the reward loop that keeps them returning loses its pull, and the studio is left with a content gap it did not plan for. BULKHEAD's admission is notable because it comes days after launch rather than weeks later, and because the studio has chosen to absorb the cost itself — by considering an earlier Season 3 — instead of resetting accounts.

The decision also carries weight for the game's standing on Steam, where WARDOGS has ranked among the most-played titles on the platform, a position highlighted in coverage by Sortir à Paris. A large, active player base makes any change to progression visible immediately, and any misstep equally so.

What the studio changed, and what it will not do

According to تروجيمنج, the Season 2 update rebalanced a number of elements in the game with the aim of adjusting how players advance. The result was the opposite of the team's goal: rather than a measured climb, players moved through the gear tiers quickly and hit the ceiling of their equipment early.

BULKHEAD has been explicit that it will not delete player progress again. The studio is instead examining how to accelerate development of Season 3 content so that it can arrive sooner than planned. The reasoning it gave is that removing the achievements and advancement many players have accumulated since Season 2 went live would be unjust.

The apology follows a separate Season 2 controversy reported by تروجيمنج, in which the developers withdrew Blue Team rewards one day after introducing them because players had found a way to exploit them. That episode and the progression issue together suggest a season that has required repeated correction since launch.

IGN also reported that the head of Wardogs acknowledged Season 2 had not gone entirely to plan, characterising the launch as less than smooth.

A season of adjustments

The pattern across these reports is of a studio reacting quickly to problems as they surface. Pulling the Blue Team rewards within a day shows a willingness to reverse a decision fast when players find a loophole. The progression apology shows the same instinct applied to a design choice that could not simply be undone, since the fix would have meant taking something away from players.

WARDOGS has also expanded its Season 2 battles with new weapons and vehicles, alyoum reported, part of the content push that accompanied the season's arrival.

What BULKHEAD has not done is set out a date for Season 3 or confirm that an early launch will happen. The studio's statement, as reported, describes an internal review rather than a committed schedule. Whether the faster progression is left as it stands or offset through other means is also unresolved in the reporting so far.

For now, the practical position is this: players who reached top-tier gear keep it, the studio accepts that its rebalancing missed its target, and the next lever it is considering is the timing of the following season rather than the state of the current one.

Watch for any announcement from BULKHEAD on a Season 3 date, and for whether the studio details further changes to how gear progression is tuned in the meantime.
