Technology company shares dropped sharply once more as investors grew uneasy about spending in the artificial intelligence sector, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) reported on Friday, 30 October 2026.

According to BSS, the fall hit major names, with Alphabet, Amazon and Intel among the stocks that declined. Bengali-language outlet Ei Samay, cited in the same report roundup, linked the slump to heavy AI expenditure that has not yet produced the earnings investors expected.

Separately, Bangla Telegraph reported that Google's market value fell by 50 billion dollars in a single day, according to the BSS summary.

The pullback comes against a mixed regional picture. BSS also carried a report that Asian stock markets rose as confidence in AI grew, suggesting investors are not treating the sector uniformly across regions.

The broader question facing the US market is whether AI outlays will translate into profit. A report in South Korean outlet JaeKyung Ilbo, included in the BSS roundup, framed the US stock market as being tested on the returns from AI investment, and noted expectations that S&P 500 earnings could rise by 30 percent.

The material available does not specify exact index levels, closing prices or the size of individual declines beyond the Google figure.

Investors will be watching upcoming earnings disclosures from the large technology firms for clearer evidence on whether AI spending is beginning to pay off, and whether the latest selling continues into the next trading session.
