“Grounded and Settled (Build Unshakeable Faith)”
Scripture: Colossians 1:23
The surveillance tightened overnight.
New cameras appeared in the hallways. Wristbands now logged every raised voice. Two students who had stood with Zara and Kayla the day before were called in and warned. By mid-morning, the fire in several hearts had begun to flicker under the pressure.
Wesley found Zara and Kayla behind the science block. “They’re isolating us,” he said. “Making an example.”
Zara held up her TeeVo. Colossians 1:23: “continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away…”
“Pastor Chris compared it to skyscrapers,” she said. “Engineers don’t start with the glass and steel. They dig deep down to bedrock. The taller the building, the deeper the foundation. Unshakeable faith is the same. You don’t stay standing because the pressure is light. You stay standing because your roots in the Word go deeper than the storm.”
Kayla was quiet. Then she spoke. “Last night the hospital called again. My brother’s numbers are holding. But the doctors still say it could change any moment. Fear keeps trying to pull me back down.”
Zara looked at her. “Abraham didn’t consider his own body already dead or the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He stayed grounded in what God said. That’s how faith becomes unshakeable.”
They opened their Bibles right there and read aloud slowly, deliberately passages on the integrity of God’s Word. No long prayers this time. Just roots going deeper.
When the final warning bell rang, a student who had cooled off the day before walked up, eyes steady.
“I want to be grounded too,” she said. “Teach me.”
Across the courtyard, an Echo Protocol official watched them and made a note.
The foundation was being tested.
