JESUS IS THE TRUE LIGHT
(He’ll Light Your Life With Success)

TO THE BIBLE – John 8:12
“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’”
The history essays were returned at the end of third period.
Maya’s came back with a strong grade and a short note of approval. Jordan’s was solid too—better than he had expected after the uncertain start. Around them the reactions varied. Some students exhaled in relief. Others stared at their papers in quiet frustration. A few already looked defeated about the next assignment.
At lunch the contrast felt sharper. Conversations at nearby tables drifted toward stress, comparison, and the sense that no one could quite get ahead for long. Across the room Tyler sat with his group, still mostly silent toward Maya and Jordan, the unresolved thread from the previous weeks still hanging in the air.
Jordan turned his essay over in his hands.
“It’s strange,” he said. “Two weeks ago I would have called this luck or a one-time thing. Now it feels different. Like we weren’t just guessing our way through.”
Maya nodded. “That’s because we’re not walking in the dark anymore. Jesus said He’s the light of the world—the true Light. When you follow Him, you don’t grope around trying to find success or peace or direction. The light is already shining from inside you. It shows you what’s real and what’s available.”
She glanced toward the other tables. “A lot of people are still moving through school, friendships, even their own future without that light. They can work hard and still feel like they’re heading nowhere clear. We don’t have to live that way.”
Jordan followed her gaze for a moment, then looked back.
“The silence from Tyler still bothers me sometimes,” he admitted. “I keep wondering what he’s thinking or what’s coming next. But even that feels less heavy than it used to. Like I don’t have to stumble through it blindly.”
“Exactly,” Maya said. “Darkness is what makes everything feel confusing and final. The true Light doesn’t just help you survive the pressure—it lights the path with actual success, peace, and clarity. We already have Him. That means we already have the light.”
The lunch period continued. Grades were still being compared. The social undercurrent with Tyler’s circle remained unfinished. Yet something fundamental had settled between Maya and Jordan: they were no longer approaching their days as people searching for direction in the dark.
The Light was already present.
And it was enough to walk by.
