Banner of Love (God’s Unfailing Commitment To You)

The board’s decision came just after the first bell.
Restricted speaking privileges extended for two more weeks. Any further public declarations would mean immediate suspension. The message was clear: stay quiet, or leave.
Kayla sat on the low wall outside the office, staring at the ground. “What if I fail again? What if the fire dies when the pressure gets heavier?”
Zara sat beside her and opened her TeeVo to the morning’s message.
“Ancient armies marched under banners,” she said. “The banner told everyone whose side they were on and what they stood for. God waved His banner over us when He put Jesus on the Cross. That banner is love. Not the emotional kind the committed kind. The kind that doesn’t walk away when you mess up.”
She read Song of Solomon 2:4 aloud: “He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.”
“Pastor Chris said God doesn’t just love you. He’s in love with you. His love is sacrifice and commitment. It doesn’t see your faults and condemn you. It covers you while you grow. That’s the banner flying over us right now even in this restriction.”
Wesley joined them, phone in hand. The coded message from the summer network had finally been decrypted. One line stood out:
The banner still flies. Someone inside is still watching. You are not alone.
Kayla looked up, eyes clearer. “So even when the system tries to silence us… His banner is still over us?”
Zara nodded. “And His commitment doesn’t fail.”
Across the courtyard, the new student who had asked to be grounded raised her hand slightly just enough for them to see. She was still standing.
The banner had not been lowered.
