An OpenAI employee has been arrested after a hidden recording device was found inside one of the company's meeting rooms, according to NU. The discovery was made at the AI company's offices, and the staff member was taken into custody in connection with the device.
Several Dutch outlets carried the same account. NOS reported that a small recording device was uncovered in a meeting room and that an employee was subsequently detained. RTL, BNR and De Morgen also stated that OpenAI found the equipment on its premises and that a worker was arrested.
The reports describe a concealed listening device placed in a space used for meetings, though the outlets did not specify when the device was installed or how long it had been there. No details were given about the identity of the employee or any possible motive.
The incident points to concerns about the security of internal discussions at OpenAI, a company whose private meetings can involve sensitive product and research matters. The reporting so far is limited to the discovery and the arrest, and none of the outlets indicated what information, if any, the device may have captured.
It is not yet clear what charges the employee may face or whether authorities have said anything further about the case. Further updates are expected as the investigation proceeds.
