Dutch singer Lee Towers, who turned 80, has spoken about his dependence on his wife Laura, telling De Telegraaf that life without her would leave him without purpose. The interview was published on Sunday, 8 November 2026.

According to De Telegraaf, the performer known as "Bulldozer" described himself as vulnerable, saying that without Laura he no longer sees the point in carrying on. RTL.nl and Ditjes en Datjes reported the same remarks, with RTL summarising his position as being unable to picture a life without her.

The interview coincides with two other milestones. Rijnmond reports that Towers has released a book after 65 years in the music business, and that he found reading it for the first time an emotional experience. Trouw, meanwhile, traced his career against an early verdict that he was "a dime that would never become a quarter" — a prediction, the paper noted, that he confounded. Trouw quoted him asking, in effect, whether that did not make him enormously proud.

The coverage presents two sides of the same figure: a long career that defied low expectations, and a man in his eighties who says his wife is central to how he values his own life. De Telegraaf's headline frames the contrast directly, pairing his familiar nickname with the word "vulnerable."

Towers has not announced any further plans beyond the book. Watch for follow-up interviews around its release, and for any public appearances by the singer, who has given no indication of stepping back from the spotlight.
