Samsung appears to be preparing a new fitness band, the Galaxy Fit 4, and evidence suggests it may add contactless payment support. According to Gizmodo, the leak traces back to SamMobile, which reported on the device's existence.
The reported design of the Galaxy Fit 4, which has a rectangular screen, looks much the same as the current Galaxy Fit 3 at a glance. The more telling clue sits inside the band's companion app, Galaxy Fit 4 Manager, where a new wallet settings menu is said to appear. Gizmodo raises the possibility that this menu points to an NFC chip enabling a new cashless payment feature, though that remains unconfirmed.
The leak arrives as Samsung's smartwatch lineup has climbed in price. Gizmodo notes that the Galaxy Watch series now sits at roughly 70,000 yen, a sum that would comfortably buy a budget smartphone. The Galaxy Fit 3, by contrast, is a smart band priced under 10,000 yen, and rumors of a successor had already been circulating before this report.
Gizmodo's coverage also references separate reporting from Daily Gadget, which said Samsung itself leaked information about the Galaxy Fit 4, including a speaker and photo watch faces, suggesting a launch may be close.
What to watch next: whether Samsung officially confirms the Galaxy Fit 4, its price and release date, and whether contactless payments are among its features.
