JMGO has started shipping pre-orders of the IRIS Ultra Max, the top model in what the company calls the first smart projector series to support 4K at 120Hz. The Shenzhen-based projector maker announced the delivery start on October 19, according to EQS News, which carried the corporate announcement. The IRIS Ultra, the second model in the lineup, is scheduled to begin shipping a week later, on October 26.

Both models were introduced globally at IFA 2026 before reaching customers. JMGO is selling the series through Amazon and its own online store, EQS News reports.

Why it matters

High refresh rates have become a selling point in gaming displays and televisions, and JMGO is now pushing the same specification into the projector category. The company says the IRIS Series handles 4K at 120Hz from input through to output, a claim it presents as an industry first for a smart projector line.

For buyers, the pitch is a single device that can serve both a home theater and a gaming setup. Whether that combination holds up in practice will depend on how the projectors perform outside show conditions, but the specification sheet positions the series above most consumer projectors currently on the market.

Motion handling and gaming features

According to the announcement, the IRIS Series supports variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode at 4K@120Hz, features aimed at reducing tearing and input delay during games. Dolby Vision is also supported at that resolution and refresh rate.

For film and sports content, JMGO includes a 4K@120Hz MEMC function, which interpolates frames to smooth motion. The company also cites hardware-level Anti-RBE technology, designed to cut down on the rainbow artifacts that some viewers notice on single-chip projector designs. JMGO says the approach does not add noise.

Brightness, contrast and color

The two models differ mainly in light output and contrast. The IRIS Ultra Max is rated at 6,500 ISO lumens with a native contrast ratio of 10,000:1. The IRIS Ultra is rated at 4,500 ISO lumens with 7,000:1 native contrast.

Both use JMGO's MALC 6.0 Triple-Laser Engine and a 15-blade dual-Iris system, described as a 6+9 configuration. JMGO credits its AI DBL Technology with improving black levels and detail. The company also claims 110% coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut and color accuracy of roughly ΔE 0.7, a figure that, if accurate, would indicate very close alignment with reference colors.

Installation and setup

JMGO has built flexibility into the optics. The Ultra Max offers an optical zoom range of 0.88–1.7:1 and four-way lens shift covering ±130% vertically and ±53% horizontally. It also sits on an AI-powered gimbal that pans 360 degrees and tilts up to 150 degrees.

Two software features, AI Screen Fitting and AI Spatial Image Memory, are intended to shorten setup time by adjusting the image automatically and remembering placement. The IRIS Ultra keeps the same optical zoom and four-way lens shift, which JMGO says allows lossless image adjustment without moving the unit.

Company background

JMGO was founded in 2011 and has spent more than a decade developing intelligent projection products. The company describes itself as focused on continued technical development and user experience as it competes in the consumer projector market.

Pricing for both models is listed on Amazon and JMGO's official store, and the company directs customers to its website for purchasing details.

What to watch: whether the 4K@120Hz claim and the brightness ratings hold up in independent testing once the first units reach reviewers and buyers.
