Itch, the marketplace for independent games, has begun clearing out a large volume of generative AI material from its platform, according to IGN. The store confirmed in a statement posted on social media that it had removed several terabytes of what it described as junk content produced by AI. The purge covers thousands of games as well as other listings, including asset packs made for game developers.

The scale of the deletion points to how much AI-produced material had accumulated on the platform. Itch has long positioned itself as an open home for small and experimental creators, and the statement suggests that openness had been strained by bulk-uploaded content. IGN's report does not detail how listings were identified for removal or whether creators were notified before their work was taken down.
