Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto VI now displays a file size on the Microsoft Store for its Xbox Series X|S edition, and the Japanese listing comes in slightly under the global figure. According to GameSpark, the Japan-facing page shows 208.74GB, while store pages for other regions, including North America, list 209.86GB.
The roughly 1GB gap drew attention on X on November 7, when users noticed the sizes were visible on the storefront. GameSpark reports that several overseas players have pointed to the difference as evidence that Japan is receiving a separate build of the game.
The game's domestic rating has already been confirmed as CERO Z, Japan's adults-only category. Game*Spark notes that Rockstar has not issued any official statement explaining what separates the Japanese version from the global release, so the reason for the smaller download remains unconfirmed.
The discrepancy is small next to the overall install footprint, which runs past 200GB on Xbox. Sony has separately advised that the PlayStation 5 version requires at least 212GB of free space, with preloading set to begin on November 10, according to CNET Japan and the Japanese PlayStation Blog.
For now, the size difference is a storefront observation rather than a documented feature. Players planning a download should watch for official word from Rockstar on regional differences, and for any change to the listed figures as the November 10 preload date approaches.
