TO THE BIBLE: Matthew 12:37
“For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
The competition was only days away, and the atmosphere around the school was thick with prediction.
Some students were already scripting failure: “I’m not ready.” “This is going to be a disaster.” “Things never work out when it matters.” The words floated through the hallways like accepted truth. For a moment Kemi felt the pull to join the familiar language of limitation. Then she caught herself.
At the study table Tobi noticed the firm set of her jaw.
“You’re correcting something again,” he said.
“I’m training my language,” Kemi replied. “A GPS only takes you where you tell it to go. If you input the wrong address, it confidently guides you to the wrong place. My words work the same way. They enter destinations into the GPS of my life. They determine the direction of my energy, focus, and opportunities.”

She closed her competition folder for a moment.
“As a teenager I’m building my world every day with my thoughts, my choices, and especially my words. When I keep saying ‘I’m not good enough’ or ‘I can’t do this,’ I’m forming a language of limitation and that language will shape what I expect. But I’m a child of God. I’ve been called to speak differently. This is not just positive thinking. It’s speaking truth. God’s Word is truth. When I consistently speak what the Word says, those words shape my mindset, align my spirit, and produce results consistent with that reality.”
Tobi leaned in. “So the vocabulary has to match who you actually are.”
“Exactly,” Kemi said. “It’s not only the words it’s the system of thought behind them. Some people say, ‘When we started worshipping, the presence of God came down.’ It sounds spiritual, but it’s inaccurate. I carry His presence. He doesn’t come and go. When we gather, His presence is manifested, not imported. I have to train myself to speak in agreement with New Testament revelation. My words must align with who I am in Christ—God’s dwelling place, full of His glory and power.”
She spoke deliberately:
“I am who God says I am. I can do what He says I can do. I am ready. I am excellent. I am full of wisdom and power. My words produce victory, excellence, and glory. I refuse every language of limitation.”
Later that day, when a classmate muttered another round of “we’re not going to make it,” Kemi answered calmly with the truth instead of joining the complaint. The shift was small but clear. Her thinking stayed steady. The atmosphere around her preparation remained under the authority of the Word rather than fear.

On the way home Tobi glanced at her.
“You’re not just studying the material. You’re programming the direction.”
Kemi nodded. “Because as my language changes, my thinking changes. As my thinking changes, my experiences follow. By my words I am justified. So I talk right.”
The competition still required diligence. The final preparations still mattered. But the language ruling her days had been corrected again.
She was speaking truth.
And truth was setting the destination.
